Before you—or your parents—hit “Register,” ask these questions:
🏀 1. Who Will Actually Be There?
Check which coaches will actually attend and be interacting with you.
✉️ 2. Were You Directly Invited by a Coach on Staff?
This is crucial. A personal invitation is fantastic.
Why that personal touch matters: Head coaches and staff don’t just want to watch film—they want to see you play live on their floor, evaluate your work ethic in person, and coach you directly to see how well you take instruction and fit into their culture.
🎯 3. What’s Your Goal?
Are you trying to:
- Get recruited?
- Improve your skills?
- Compete against better players?
- Visit a college campus?
Know your “why”.
👀 4. Is It the Right Fit?
Find camps where the schools and level of competition actually match your athletic and academic goals.
📱 5. Don’t Forget the Follow-Up
Getting seen is only step one. If a coach watches you, follow up promptly. Send a quick thank-you email and express your continued interest. And remember, just because a coach doesn’t respond due to NCAA rules doesn’t mean they don’t see the message.
🗣️ A Quick, Vital Note on the Power of Elite Camps
Even if a camp doesn’t end in an offer, coaches talk.
College coaches constantly network with colleagues across different divisions and conferences. If a coaching staff loves your attitude, skill set, and effort—even if you ultimately aren’t the right fit for their specific roster needs—they will frequently recommend you to coaches at other programs. Treat every camp like a multi-school audition.
